Who We Are

The Virginia Association of Hospitality Sales and Meeting Professionals has been serving the hospitality professionals in Virginia for over half a century.  Formerly a chapter of an international hospitality organization, VHSMP provides continuing education to hoteliers and meeting planners, as well as professional achievement awards, networking opportunities and collegiate scholarships.  The association leadership works in connection with the Virginia Tourism Corporation and other state associations to present a unified message on legislative and funding issues related to tourism and convention marketing.

Mission Statement

VHSMP serves hospitality sales and meeting planning professionals in Virginia through the promotion of education, interaction and recognition with the purpose of ensuring their success and professionalism.

  • VHSMP will provide educational and networking opportunities for hospitality sales and marketing professionals.
  • VHSMP will promote professionalism and advancement within the hospitality industry through public, print and electronic mediums.
  • VHSMP will foster relationships between hospitality and meeting professionals as well as affiliated organizations.
  • VHSMP will promote and support hospitality and tourism initiatives.
  • VHSMP will serve as a voice for the hospitality sales and marketing community.

 

Code of Ethics

All members should strive to maintain and to improve sound business practices and maintain high standards of personal conduct.

All members should adhere strictly to a policy of truth in advertising and public expressions and issue no false or misleading statement to clients or to the public.

Realizing that a business is judged by its employees, the members should accept responsibility for cooperation in every reasonable and proper way with others and conduct business in a manner that will bring credit to the practice of hospitality management.

The members should engage fully in activities for social and civic betterment and should accept every opportunity to use professional skills to improve the community.
